Job Description

Role Purpose

 

Being part of the management team, the role of the Plant Quality Manager is to be responsible for ensuring we exceed our customer expectations, via a proactive approach based on the integrity of quality assurance, problem-solving, auditing all internally produced products to technical specifications, and meeting the defined quality standards and systems required.

 

This role will be fundamental in implementing proactive Quality Risk Reduction and developing Quality Culture & Performance. You will play a key role in the management of the Plant Quality Team, with safety first, “best in class” expertise and providing an environment that supports continuous improvement to ensure that we achieve our manufacturing & sustainability ambitions.  

 

This role will require close collaboration with the following departments - Health and Safety, Innovation and Sustainability, Production Operations, Engineering, Technical, associated Quality & Laboratory functions, Sales & Account to ensure the delivery of a robust quality management system.

 

Key accountabilities

 

  • Being an advocate for strong H & S practices and aiding the development of H & S Culture.
  • Actively leading Quality culture maturity, via a measured programme.
  • Based at the Bridge of Weir site, while supporting the Glasgow site and working collaboratively with the cutting plant in Paisley to progress Quality Improvements.
  • Creating a proactive culture within Quality that is data driven, with priorities understood.
  • Actively leading to ensure Quality KPI’s (while developing these metrics) are met and support other functional KPI’s are required.
  • Ensure that company procedures & processes are adhered to & improved upon in line with requirements for IATF16949, AS9100, ISO9001 or others as defined by the business.
  • Quality Control Management including (but not exclusively): product compliance & verification against internal & customer specifications (haptic, optic & technical specifications), confirmation of product & process controls, colour confirmation, consistent application of quality management protocols & development thereof, quality performance statistical data analysis, management of corrective actions (5Why's, Global 8D, Ishikawa, FMEA), delivery of PPAP/PSW approvals of all products.
  • Management & allocation of appropriate Quality resource both proactive (continuous improvement) & reactive (containment).
  • Management & reporting to Business stakeholders on Quality performance through data analysis (Statistical analysis, PowerBI).
  • Responsible for data gathering & analysis, problem solving, project management & delivering meaningful & relevant presentation events.
  • Effectively uses external networks to identify best quality practices & use this to drive improvements within all operations; from Tanning through Dyeing & Finishing, Cutting & Final Inspection.
  • Presents, facilitates & co-ordinates assigned Quality events.
  • Training - Development & PDR management of Quality team members.
  • Communicate internally & externally on quality performance.
  • Ensuring Environmental & employee Wellbeing is achieved.
  • Compliance with all legal & statutory requirements pertaining to Quality.
  • Work across functions to ensure Quality performance.
  • Delivery of a robust Quality Management System within production operations.
  • Management & development of the Quality team (Quality Improvement leader, Quality Engineer & Technicians).
  • Role model leadership behaviors which promotes excellence & shapes the company culture.
  • Promote employee engagement through timely two-way communications regarding quality activities & initiatives.
  • Progression of a succession & personnel development plan for Quality.
  • Adjudge internal & external risk factors (product / processes / practices).
  • Management of change.
  • Policies - all legal & statutory requirements by department. Whilst living the Company values and promoting health, safety and wellbeing, provide clear vision and leadership to the Team, as well as inspire, motivate and coach to help them develop new skills and support succession planning
  • Promote employee engagement through timely two-way communications, particularly delivering on key actions identified during employee engagement surveys.
  • Recruitment and selection of staff when required with the support of HR
  • The performance management of employees when required with the support of HR.

 

 

 

Experience Desired

 

  • A degree in a related discipline.

  • Previous experience of operating within a senior level Quality role within manufacturing.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, work measurement & process analysis.
  • Programme & project management skills.
  • Experience of developing & implementing meaningful KPI’s, targeting key areas of improvement, enabling the ability to celebrate success.
  • Experience of dealing with Customers & Suppliers.
  • Quality Management experience - minimum 5 years
  • Understanding of Power BI and be able to develop reports within.
